Deutsches Haus Kids Program is designed for bilingual children with at least one German speaking parent. It caters especially to Pre-K and elementary
school level children, furthering their acquisition of the German language. Raising children to be bilingual can be difficult alone; without a group of bilingual peers, children may find the second language frustrating or burdensome. Deutsches Haus Kids breaks down these barriers and provides an exciting alternative. Our lessons are comparable with those of the German school system. We complement these lessons with a variety of cultural experiences, including a German Kasperltheater, a St. Martin lantern parade, and celebrations for both Nikolaustag and Easter. Additionally, we offer a Kids Book Club to improve reading and writing skills while cultivating students' interest in German literature.
The Kids Program staff holds Parent Teacher Conferences every semester to update families on classroom activities and individual students' progress. We pride ourselves on creating a sense of community among families who share an interest in German, Austrian and Swiss culture.
