Scraps of Poetry

Deutsches Haus at NYU
Deutsches Haus at NYU presents the exhibition "Scraps of Poetry" that has been curated by Astrid Busch. The exhibition includes works by Astrid Busch, Dagmar Buhr, Franziska Hünig, Antonia Low, Michael Merck, Andreas Neumeister und Andrea Pichl.
The exhibition Scraps of Poetry presents seven approaches in which artistic tools have been generated from the process of fragmentation and re-contextualization of language, space, and material, and which question space and occurrences. Exhibition spaces are understood as places of negotiation with their immanent identities, which are met on different levels: through deconstruction, reevaluation, and displacement. Site-specific interventions dissect and transform spatial and substantial attributions and their supposed implicitness.
Location matters. Upon an invitation from Deutsches Haus at NYU, the artist Astrid Busch has curated the exhibition Scraps of Poetry, which is presented in a space that does not function as a classical “white cube” and that understands itself as a forum for a transatlantic artistic and intellectual exchange. The artists participating in this exhibition interact with the specific space and use it artistically. Precise aesthetic positions interact with the spatial properties and/or react to the site-specific context. Positions that capture literary and cinematic references or that transform semantic relationships of language operate in a place, focusing on literature, film, and visual arts.
The exhibition includes works by Astrid Busch, Dagmar Buhr, Franziska Hünig, Antonia Low, Michael Merck, Andreas Neumeister und Andrea Pichl. It is made possible through the generous support of the Senate Chancellery of Cultural Affairs Berlin.
This event is part of our fall focus on the city of Berlin, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall.
